Powering Maritime Communities: New Energy Alliance Formed
The Maritime Municipal Electric Utility Alliance was formed to explore areas for collaboration and co-operation between locally owned electric utilities in the region.
East Coast Energy Partnership Established
Included in the alliance are Saint John Energy, the City of Edmundston, the Village of Perth Andover in New Brunswick, the Towns of Antigonish, Mahone Bay and Berwick in Nova Scotia and the City of Summerside in Prince Edward Island.

Utilities Collaborate for Efficiency and Sustainability
Amid rapid transformation within the electricity sectors, the utilities recognize a clear benefit in working closer together to seize opportunities and navigate issues.
While the utilities often worked together, the alliance formalizes and encourages the collaboration to the benefit of its member utilities – helping to improve effectiveness and reliability, promote growth, focus on sustainability and foster public awareness.
Its members recognize that the future holds dramatic change and tremendous opportunity in the electricity sector. And they know that time is of the essence in responding to them.
Alliance for Transformation
By working together within the alliance, they are harnessing a greater collective strength in dealing with the transformations ahead.
In joining together, they all agree on the importance of climate action. They are united in the importance of leading in the development of renewable energy.
And they all agree that their individual strengths are deeply rooted in understanding their own territories and customers and that those will be respected in all their work together.
